Melbourne Photo Diary

My first trip of this year 2015: Melbourne – my second home away from home. Having grown up in Melbourne, the most liveable city in the world, and spent all my teenage years there, I miss it terribly because there really is something for everyone in this city.  The best part about it is probably the chill artsy (laid-back Aussie) vibe you can’t get anywhere else. The city sort of possesses this Brooklyn grunge feel slash Victorian-era sophistication. The level of interest architecture displayed around the different parts of town is breathtaking – from modern building to terrace houses, to the eye-popping visual merchandising displays in retail stores and my favourite is all the interiors in the restaurants and bars down the (more often than not so mysterious) Melbourne alleyways.  And let’s not forget, hands down – by far – Melbourne cafes/baristas make the BEST coffee in the world. Here are some photos from my trip 🙂

My morning run in the sun to brunch in South Yarra to Bridge Rd

Leafy afternoon in Melbourne on St Kilda Rd + TRAMs!

I didn’t plan much of an itinerary as I thought I know the city so well but after two years – a lot has changed! I also did make a girlie weekend trip down to the NGV to check out the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition (in retrospective) and it was great to re-see his earlier works again

Another event on my agenda this trip was also the Portsea Polo – little did we know we were in for quite a weekend! It was all day long DOC pizzass in the tent, Espresso Martinis, and free flow colourful summer cocktails!

And on my last weekend I got a chance to check out The Royal Melbourne Croquet sponsored by Broadsheet which was really awesome. Summer rays, lounging on the grass with great selection of drinks and food with your friends – it was the best way to kick start the year with a bang over the weekend.

First post of 2015: Singapore Sling Flashback

It has indeed been a very long while since I’ve published a blog post! It’s so strange to call it a blog post anymore.  I do miss this small little quiet space of mine for some reason & the blogging community.

But to keep things short and sweet: I’m getting back into it! Rest assured, the blog will be even more aesthetically fulfilling and will be your go-to daily fashion eye candy along with providing sleek updates for the whole year. And my life in pictures is also on instagram @curatedbykiki & I sometimes keep a 140 characters rant @curatedbykiki…..

When I run into people I haven’t seen in a while – they ask if I still blog – sadly I say no because I always give the excuse that I have no time to do unpaid writing jobs anymore… when mostly I never call myself a writer but I do write for paychecks. Here is to the first post of 2015 – I’ll put it under travel as I am obsessed with jumping on planes and getting exposed to radiation to chase the actual sunshine where you’d rather be… And this was my last work trip from last year.

These are some behind the scenes pictures of work I’ve done in December with EtikitSG. It was so so much fun – interviewing bloggers from Singapore and getting their perspective on the business of blogging and how they’ve fared through in the past couple years in this evolving digital media landscape. Unfortunately I was thrown into this interview with a really bad cold… I soldiered on and we got some great footage and pictures done for our shoot. Even though we didn’t get around to actually having Singapore Slings this trip – it was definitely well worth it. xxx

Trunks & Travel: where to go for Chinese New Year

Image In this part of the world, Chinese New Year is a serious holiday. Especially, in HK, China, Malaysia and Thailand. We get a long holiday in Asia. So the occasion comes around for me to post a few of my options for Chinese New Year – it might not even happen at all. But here are a few:

1. New Zealand – Best enjoyed during summer in my personal opinion 🙂 Even though Queenstown has amazing skiing resorts and bundle amount of powder. I still vote New Zealand has so many activities to enjoy during the summer. Especially if you’re an adrenaline junkie like me, there is so much adventure, outdoor hiking to do! And the scenic drive is awesome – and let’s not forget they did film The Lord of the Rings here where you can visit Hobbiton and roam around in cute cafes and the town all day.

2. Vietnam – I have my eye on Vietnam for a while, the absolutely amazing Six Senses Con Dao just looks beyond. I see the French-inspired architecture details as well as Pho and rice spring rolls calling my name already

3. Bora Bora – This one is a little bit further away than a hop and ride on the plane for a couple hours. Gotta go via New Zealand but the island is so far away for most people it’s exciting for me to just go visit and see their culture.

FOUR SEASONS, BORA BORA

I just came across these amazing sets from Elem Mayara and inspired me for the post! Blue skies, white sand, and the glaring sun and that coconut smell of the tanning oil already got me dreaming about my packing list for the trip!

2014! A new year, A new blog.

As we ring in the new year for 2014. Many didn’t keep their 2013 new year resolutions… they say only 6% of people kept to their new year resolutions after a week and a whopping more than most dropped it or break it and suddenly the pact is broken and one is too shameful or think it cannot be undone therefore dropping their entire new year resolution entirely.

Wrapping up 2013, it’s been an amazing year – getting to experience so many fashion weeks throughout the world. Some haven’t been able to document it because of work as much as I wanted to here. But meeting so many new bloggers and people who have the same passion is great from New York, Sydney and Bangkok. And comes around the opportunity to be a producer and fashion host for Fashion One TV network airing worldwide was also another accomplishment.

For me, I’d like to take my old new year resolution forward to this year and enforce it even more to 1. either pick up french to a fluency level (conversationally) or 2. learn a new language. As for 2014, I made a promise to create and do more things I love ie. blogging, create a social project, more community service and travel more. As well as keeping the blog short & sweet.

The Lust List for Bali

I absolutely cannot help myself posting these gorgeous travel pictures just so I can daydream all day about how amazing the hot sun would be on my Triangl bikinis. I would be jumping over joy if I could have a weekend getaway at one of these spots very soon. Let us know which is your favourite!
